    Two family-friendly events on Saturday 4 July 2009:

    • 11am-noon: Absolutely amazing adaptable animals
      Suitable for 7-11 year olds and their parents or guardians
    • 2pm-4pm: Challenges, codes, chemicals and currents
      Suitable for 10-14 year olds and their parents or guardians

    Both will take place in the Kohn Centre on the ground floor. Booking information will be available at the registration desk on the ground floor on the day.

    This presentation is one of several exhibition extras held during the exhibition.

    Absolutely amazing adaptable animals

    Are fish really cleverer than we give them credit for? How have they and other animals evolved to make the most of their surroundings? In Ask Dr K Fisher about Animals, shortlisted for the 2008 Royal Society Prizes for Science Books, the wise Dr K Fisher helps animals understand why they look, act and sound the way they do.

    Challenge your brain!Drop in, discuss and discover short workshops and hands-on activities led by graduates and undergraduates from Imperial College London.

    Create electric batteries, using the same principles of Alessandro Volta in 1800 – but with fruit! Investigate the destructive nature of common household items – guess the results, and then test them! Beat the puzzle of the tower of Hanoi, discover a one-sided object and investigate ancient forms of secret communication.
