The Library offers guided tours of the Library and Royal Society building to tour groups of up to 20 visitors.

All tour arrangements should be made with the Library Manager, Rupert Baker (tel. 020 7451 2599 or contact the Library). Individual requirements and specific interests should be identified and discussed at the time of booking.

As the rest of the building is used for events and meetings, access to particular rooms other than the Library cannot be guaranteed. However, the Society has an Archive display area, which is always accessible.

    • Groups of more than 6 visitors should book their tour dates at least one month in advance; smaller groups may possibly be accommodated at shorter notice.
    • A charge of £6 plus VAT per person will be made for tour groups.
    • Tours are available Monday to Friday between 10am and 3pm.
    • Tours normally last between 45 minutes and one hour.
    • Refreshments are not available as part of the tours. However, the Royal Society Restaurant is open between midday and 2pm, and groups may use this for lunch either before or after their tours. Arrangements for this should be made direct with the Restaurant Manager (tel. 020 7451 2621).
