The Picture Library houses a multitude of beautiful treasures which include:

• over 6,000 photographs, engravings and paintings of past and present Fellows
• a large collection of images taken from our manuscripts and printed works.

Online descriptions of our picture collection can be seen on our Archive catalogue by placing the name of the person or object in the "AnyText" field and the letters IM in the "RefNo" field.

The Picture Library offers the following services to researchers, publishers, the media and members of the public:

• Images for personal or academic use or as a gift
• Images for reproduction for which reproduction fee may be payable
• Commissioning photography of any item that has not been previously photographed
