The Royal Society programme at the Kavli Royal Society International Centre will combine new activities with an extension of the scientific programme that is held at the Royal Society’s premises in London.

The Kavli Royal Society International Centre allows the Royal Society to have residential meetings which will create an intensive and creative environment not possible in London as speakers and participants scatter at the end of each day. In addition to the Royal Society’s own programme at the Kavli Royal Society International Centre it will be available for use by the Fellowship, the Society’s research appointees and the wider scientific community.

The Royal Society’s scientific programme includes: Royal Society Theo Murphy international scientific meetings, satellite meetings (which follow the discussion meetings at the Society’s London premises); Research Fellows International Scientific Seminars; and training activities. National and international science policy activities, science education activities and training events also take place.

The main elements of the Society’s scientific programme at the Kavli Royal Society International Centre comprise:

    1. Theo Murphy international scientific meetings

These two day conferences bring together the international top scientists and engineers in a field with up to 90 participants.  They are selected by the Hooke Committee through an open call for proposals, to ensure the highest scientific calibre.

    1. Discussion Meeting satellite meetings

Following on from Discussion Meetings at Carlton House Terrace, the scientific organisers often hold satellite meetings or workshops for the speakers and a selection of invited participants to allow more in-depth discussion of a particular aspect of the broader subject.

    1. Research Fellows International Scientific Meetings

These meetings offer an attractive opportunity for the Royal Society’s research appointees to run their own focused international scientific meetings.  The seminars have up to 20 delegates and the meetings are chosen from applications submitted by the Research Fellows by a panel chaired by Professor Richard Catlow FRS and Professor Diane Edwards FRS, both of whom sit ex-officio on the Hooke Committee to ensure coordination.
