Welcome to the Library Refurbishment News Page

The Royal Society's Library and Archives have reopened for readers following an exciting redevelopment.

*Please note, we will be closed on Friday 16 July.*

Major refurbishment has taken place in order to achieve two things. Firstly, we have created a brand new space within the reading rooms to accommodate workshops, conferences and displays, as well as improving facilities for our regular users. Secondly, work has been carried out to improve the environmental standards in our collection storage areas.

The Hooke folioThe Library and Archives has reopened as part of the Royal Society Centre for History of Science, an exciting new development in which we intend to build on our current excellent service and introduce a whole range of new and interactive features and facilities.

The Royal Society Centre for History of Science

This initiative is intended to create a home for the Royal Society's interest in the history of science. Based on the idea of exploring our existing internationally-renowned collections we are creating a space in which historians, scientists, and members of the public can come together and be inspired by the history of science. Follow this link to read about the Centre in more detail.
