    The Royal Society funds around 700 Research Fellows at any one time. Our Fellowships fall into the following categories:

    Early Career Fellowship Schemes

    Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships
    - support excellent scientists at an early stage of their career for up to four years

    Education Research Fellowships
    - provide outstanding educationists with the opportunity to build an independent research career in STEM education

    JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship Program 
    - provides opportunities for early career researchers from the UK to conduct research in Japanese institutions

    Newton International Fellowships
    - attract the world's best early-career researchers to the UK for two years

    University Research Fellowships
    -  provide outstanding scientists, who have the potential to become leaders in their chosen field, with the opportunity to build an independent research career. Funding is available for up to 8 years.

    Senior Fellowship Schemes

    Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowships
    - Allow scientists to concentrate on their research by relieving them of teaching and administrative duties for a year

    Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Awards
    - Provide a five year salary top-up to attract or retain outstanding scientists

    Royal Society Research Professorships
    - Provide ten years' funding for internationally recognised scientists 

    Innovation Schemes

    Industry Fellowships
    - Support knowledge transfer by allowing scientists to work in industry, or vice-versa
