We want people all over the UK and from all walks of life to become excited and engaged with science during our anniversary year.

We are running an exciting programme of events at the Society's premises in Carlton House Terrace.  These include an enhanced series of public lectures and debates and a large exhibition celebrating the Society’s rich history.

We are also working with organisations around the country, in major cities and in other areas, to organise exhibitions and events that will celebrate the achievements of scientists and the contribution of science to our shared culture.

    Festival of Science

In late June and early July 2010, the Society, in partnership with the Southbank Centre, will present a huge and splendid festival of science, including an enhanced version of the Society's annual Summer Science Exhibition, talks, debates, performances and workshops for young people and families and art installations.

    Capital Science

Capital Science partners the Society with leading London organisations, including museums and galleries, to celebrate the achievements of science, its history and its impact on our wider culture.

To find out about forthcoming events and activities, go to the Capital Science page, where you can download a copy of our brochure - or keep an eye on our events diary.

    Local Heroes

Local Heroes is a nationwide programme celebrating your local scientific heroes. From Armagh to Guernsey and Caithness to Kent, museums, libraries, galleries and science centres accross the UK, will celebrate their local scientific heroes, whether they were pioneers of the industrial age, modern day scientists working to find solutions to future problems or geniuses that changed the way we see the world.

Over sixty institutions are taking part, with hundreds of events and activiities from exhibitions and talks to family fun days and interactive workshops.
