    The aim of the Society’s capacity building work is to create a range of novel support mechanisms to successfully assist in building sustainable research capacity in sub-Saharan Africa. 

    Our programme provide support at an individual, institutional and national level.  These programmes seek to both develop the research base, acknowledge high-quality science in sub-Saharan African and provide support and advice at a national level to ensure  longer term sustainability. The key objectives of our capacity build programme are to:

    • recognise promising early-career scientists in Africa
    • contribute to the development of African scientific academies
    • promote collaborative research projects between the UK and African countries
