350th Anniversary Campaign

Chairman’s Message

Fellows of the Royal Society have helped create the modern world and the Society has included some of the greatest thinkers and scientists of our times. However, it is the role of the Society in championing science and technology today and into the future that convinced me to agree to serve as Chairman of the 350th Anniversary Campaign Board.

Our five ambitious goals for the campaign are focused on strengthening science for the coming century. They build on the Society’s core strength of supporting excellence and establish a new agenda for it in the areas of science and mathematics education, innovation, international collaboration, independent policy advice and public engagement with science. Achieving these goals will require the Society to work closely with other leading scientific bodies in Britain and around the world.

With an overall goal of £100 million, the 350th Anniversary Campaign for the Royal Society is an ambitious call for private support in the cause of science today, and will greatly strengthen the effectiveness and independence of the Society. On behalf of my fellow members of the Campaign Board, I invite you to join us as we seek to build on the successes of the past and meet the challenges of the future
