International Projects

  • Expand international scientific exchanges
The Society has been developing new mechanisms to encourage scientists to explore international options for pursuing research including networking and new frontiers meetings aimed particularly at young scientists. The purpose of this activity has been to ensure scientists have access to the best science internationally and to connect the best scientific talent globally.  These exchange programmes will be expanded through the Campaign in targeted areas including: India, North America and Asia.
  • Increase science capacity in sub Saharan Africa
Science will play a critical role in solving economic, social and environmental challenges in the developing world.  The Royal Society has been active in developing research links and support for sister academies in sub Saharan Africa, particularly Ghana and Tanzania.  These connections will be strengthened through expanded research fellowships and travel grants to support the links between UK science and Africa.

Giving Opportunities

Donors may wish to support specific fellowships from North America, Asia or Europe and build upon these strong global scientific networks. Targeted grants will be sought for support of science capacity building programmes in selected African countries.
