Our five anniversary goals

We have developed five distinct anniversary goals. Each involves new or expanded activities that build on our legacy and our global network, which covers all areas of science, engineering and medicine. To become a reality, these goals require both private philanthropic support and strategic partnerships with other leading scientific, cultural, and business organisations.

The distinguished scientists who are fellows of the society are today’s scientific leaders. Tomorrow’s scientific leaders can be found amongst the scientist supported by the Society’s research fellowships.

Major challenges, from climate change to energy and from health to international security raise complex scientific and technological issues. It is now more urgent than ever that policymakers and the public are effectively informed by timely, definitive, and unbiased information.

Invigorate science and mathematics education
The continuing decline in the take up of mathematics and physical sciences among young people has serious consequences.  Modern society requires a scientifically literate population and science itself must be constantly renewed by successive generations of talented young people.   We face a critical shortage of scientists and engineers.
