How can the sight of the letter ‘Q’ activate the sensation of the colour red? Why does the sound of a middle C played on a violin bring about the taste of tuna? It is only relatively recently with the use of brain imaging techniques that synaesthesia has come to be understood as a genuine neurological condition. Join Professor Vincent Walsh to discover how some people have come to live with these experiences and how synaesthesia may be linked to our aptitude for creative thinking.

Professor Vincent Walsh is a holder of the Royal Society Industry Fellowship based in the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London.
