John Sulston FRS is Chair of the Institute for Science, Ethics and Innovation at the University of Manchester. He chaired the working group for the People and the Planet project, a major study investigating the links between global population and consumption, and the implications for a finite planet. In this lecture, he discusses the links between global population, consumption and the environment, and the implications for sustainable development.
