    Though Christopher Wren is most famous for his work on St Paul's Cathedral and other architectural projects, his earlier work on astronomy, microscopy and mechanics were equally important. He may have used these dividers to measure lines on a chart or map. The words 'Sir Christopher Wren February 1697' have been etched onto the metal, but there is no other sign they were owned by Wren.
