Inside Science - 2008
June 2008
Inside Science is the new-look magazine from the Royal Society - designed to reflect the breadth of our work as we move towards our 350th Anniversary in 2010. For the first time the magazine organises our activities under the Society's five strategic priorities, providing us with the opportunity to demonstrate how the work of the Royal Society contributes to shaping the future of Science in the UK and beyond. In this launch issue we look at: - The way our work influences policymaking as we strive to promote the deployment of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) both in the UK and internationally
- Our ambitious programme of Frontier of Science meetings, and how some of the scientists involved are benefitting from the opportunity to learn from their international counterparts
- The growth of our international reach with the announcement of new funding from the Leverhulme Trust which will help our capacity building efforts in Africa
- The success enjoyed by children from Childwall school in Liverpool and scientists at the Proudman Oceanic Laboratory taking part in our Partnership Grants programme, part of our work to invigorate science and mathematics education
- What's on offer at this year's Summer Science Exhibition, a core component of our events programme to inspire an interest in the joy, wonder and excitement of scientific discovery
- Our ambitious events programme in the run-up to our Anniversary year in 2010
