Inside Science - 2008
Autumn 2008
This is the second issue of Inside Science, the new-look magazine from the Royal Society, keeping you up to date with news of all our activities as we move towards our 350th Anniversary in 2010. The magazine organises our activities under the Society's five strategic priorities, providing us with the opportunity to demonstrate how the work of the Royal Society contributes to shaping the future of science in the UK and beyond. In our Autumn issue we look at: - Support for scientific endeavors between the USA and UK as we announce the launch of the Raymond and Beverly Sackler USA-UK Scientific Forum
- How the pioneering Newton International Fellowships Scheme will bring outstanding overseas researchers to the UK
- The direction and development of the Royal Society's International Science Policy Centre as its new Director, James Wilsdon, arrives in post
- Ground level ozone in the 21st century: the future trends, impacts and policy implications of this global air pollutant and greenhouse gas
- Creative scientific work undertaken in challenging environments; the subject of our 'Science in Africa' photographic exhibition
- Smashing Particles! How the world's biggest physics experiment helped bring together pupils form Birmingham, Cambridge and a Royal Society University Research Fellow
- Answers to some big questions; what the public and students alike thought of the cutting-edge UK research on show at this year's Summer Science Exhibition
