Our annual exhibition brings together members of the public and teams of researchers at the cutting-edge of science and technology.

In July 2008 several thousand visitors enjoyed 23 science exhibits, 2 art exhibits and 2 history of science exhibits over 4 days at the Royal Society's offices in central London.

How fast is your brain? Visitors at the 2008 Exhibition were able to test their own reaction times with simple tests, such as catching a ruler, used to understand the brain mechanisms controlling these reactions and improve diagnosis and monitoring for neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s.
Why do we blink? Secondary school students visiting the Exhibition see for themselves why blinking is vital for eye health and good vision.
Students from Childwall School in Liverpool exhibited their Royal Society Partnership grant funded project Nutrients down the Mersey. Mixing food dye in a water tank, they demonstrated how nutrients are dispersed in the Irish Sea.
The demonstration was popular with adult and student visitors alike.
Models helped exhibitors from Wonder in carbon land: how do you hold a molecule explain the advanced technology of carbon nanotubes and nanocages.
The buzz of visitors in the Wellcome Trust lecture hall during the public opening times.
Students find out how crabs sense depth and why taking crabs into outer space could help uncover the effects of space travel on balance.
Freeze frame photography of water balloons exploding demonstrates how lasers are being used for real-time imaging of electrons, and attracts a crowd of visitors keen to take part and learn more.
Visitors come to find out about the cutting edge advances. Here a visitor learns about the new field of spintronics, and its potential applications from hard-disks to healthcare.
Visitors get up close with some of the vectors for disease, and find out how predictive mathematical modelling could help prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.
Exhibitors explain how we perceive ‘natural’ materials, as visitors take part in experiments uncovering how these visual and tactile processes work.
Scientists from the Large Hadron Collider explain how its experiment will help investigate some of the fundamental questions about life.
Real experiences, such as looking into your own eyes, help the science come to life.
