Travel expenses and course fee are covered by the Royal Society for holders of University Research Fellowships, Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships, Sir Henry Dale Fellowships, Newton International Fellowships and Industry Fellowships.
Public engagement for independent researchers - for those with little or no experience, who wish to gain the confidence and key skills to get started.
Communication skills for public engagement - for those with some experience who want to learn about communicating their science to new audiences.
Engaging with schools - for those with some experience that want to engage specifically with school children.
Evaluating public engagement - for those who want to develop an evaluation plan for an existing public engagement idea.
If you are a Royal Society Research Fellow, you can sign up to our mailing list to hear about upcoming training.
Other training courses from the Royal Society - writing and media skills training, science policy primer and innovation and the business of science courses.
We offer bursaries for Royal Society funded researchers to attend the Public Engagement Masterclass at the Wellcome Genome Campus, which takes place in July each year. We also offer writing and media skills training, innovation and the business of science courses, pairing scheme and a mentoring scheme.
We offer up to £10,000 to Research Fellows through our Public Engagement Fund. The fund is open to current Royal Society University Research Fellows and Dorothy Hodgkin Fellows who have completed the first year of their fellowship on or before 31 October in the year of application. The next round of application will open in October 2020.

We have regular opportunities for Research Fellows to take part in public engagement. Whether it's at our monthly Café Scientifique events, at regional festivals, through Partnership Grants, judging our book prizes or demonstrating at the Science Museum Lates, there are always ways to get involved.
You can also find inspiration from our blog, where Research Fellows share their experiences of public engagement and advice for anyone looking to do more.
To hear about the latest opportunities to get involved, please email us and ask to be added to the mailing list.
