We have a long history of engaging the public in science and helping our researchers to do this effectively is a key area of our work.
The Meet the Scientists programme is designed to provide Research Fellows with support and new opportunities in public engagement, allowing them take part in and create research-led, effective engagement that is of benefit to them, their research and the public.

Public engagement training
We offer access to the following training courses, aimed at scientists with between 3 and 10 years post-PhD experience. The courses are open to any scientists at a relevant career stage, but the course fee and travel expenses are covered for Royal Society funded researchers.
We offer bursaries for Royal Society funded researchers to attend the Public Engagement Masterclass at the Wellcome Genome Campus, which takes place in July each year. We also offer writing and media skills training, innovation and the business of science courses, pairing scheme and a mentoring scheme.
We have regular opportunities for Research Fellows to take part in public engagement. Whether it's at our monthly Café Scientifique events, at regional festivals, through Partnership Grants, judging our book prizes or demonstrating at the Science Museum Lates, there are always ways to get involved.
You can also find inspiration from our blog, where Research Fellows share their experiences of public engagement and advice for anyone looking to do more.
