Grant schemes external evaluation provision

The Royal Society is inviting suitably experienced evaluators and research organisations to tender for the provision of evaluation and analytical services to support the assessment of its grant schemes and wider funding activities. This opportunity will help the Society understand the effectiveness, outcomes and impact of its funding programmes, and ensure that learning from evaluations continues to inform future decision-making.

Through this tender, the Society aims to establish a four-year supplier pool of evaluation providers, who we would then tender evaluations among. Appointed suppliers may be invited to deliver grant scheme evaluations, rapid evidence reviews, career tracking studies, meta-analyses and other related analytical projects. The first evaluation is expected to be commissioned shortly after the contract begins in January 2027, with further work commissioned on a streamlined competitive basis during the lifetime of the agreement.

We welcome bids from suppliers with demonstrable experience of evaluating research, funding or comparable programmes, particularly within the UK research and innovation landscape. Tenderers are asked to submit a proposal setting out their organisational experience, understanding of the tender context, proposed methodology, delivery team, approach to reporting and presentation, risk management and data protection arrangements, and pricing.
