Robert Langlands receives the Abel Prize 2018

Robert Langlands, a Fellow of the Royal Society has today been awarded this year’s Abel Prize. The Abel Prize is awarded annually by the Norwegian Academy of Science to outstanding mathematicians, and is worth NOK 6 million.

Professor Langlands of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, USA receives the award for his visionary program connecting representation theory to number theory.

His Majesty King Harald V will present Mr Langlands with the Abel Prize at an award ceremony in Oslo on 22 May.
