Third International Summit on Human Genome Editing postponed to 2023

14 January 2022

The Summit, which was due to take place 7-9 March 2022, will now take place on 6-8 March 2023 at the Francis Crick Institute in London, UK.

On the original dates of the Summit, a series of online events were held, focusing on the key topics of next year's Summit agenda. To watch the events, please go to Looking Ahead to the Third Human Genome Editing Summit.

Chair of the Planning Committee for the Third International Summit on Human Genome Editing, Professor Robin Lovell-Badge, said:

“It is with great disappointment that the Planning Committee for the Third International Summit on Human Genome Editing, due to be held in London on 7-9 March this year, has decided to postpone the meeting to 6-8 March 2023.

“These Summits are an opportunity for members of our rapidly evolving field to come together and have a globally relevant discussion on the latest developments in somatic and germline genome editing.

“The Committee is dedicated to ensuring a range of expertise and international perspectives can participate.

“With the current uncertainty around international travel restrictions, and the ongoing pressure the pandemic is placing on health services and many in our communities, the Committee decided that either a sufficiently in-person or an entirely online meeting that fulfilled the aims of the Summit was unlikely to be possible.

“We will, however, use the original meeting window to host a number of small, themed online discussions on priority areas that will inform the Summit agenda for 2023.”
