Professor Andrew Jaffe

Andrew Jaffe is Head of Astrophysics and Professor of Astrophysics and Cosmology at Imperial College, London. His research concentrates on extracting cosmological information from astrophysical surveys using optimal statistical techniques, and he pioneered the application of Bayesian methods to cosmological data. He is co-investigator of the European Space Agency’s Planck satellite, which has solidified our understanding of the hot big bang model and measured the small number of cosmological parameters that determine the past, present and future of our Universe. His latest research concentrates on applying Bayesian Hierarchical Models to coming cosmological surveys from Satellites such as ESA's Euclid and the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope.
