Professor Dave Jackson FRS

Dave Jackson is a Professor of Plant Genetics at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, where he studies the genetic mechanisms underlying plant morphogenesis and architecture. His team discovered that transcription factors and mRNAs essential for stem cell function traffic between plant cells through specialized channels called plasmodesmata. They have also identified genes that control stem cell proliferation, and applied genome editing to generate alleles that enhance seed production in maize, with the potential to increase crop yields. The Jackson lab develops genomics tools and characterizes gene expression networks using single-cell omics. Jackson has been honored as a Chang Jiang Professor at Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan, China, and is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
