David Milstein is the Israel Matz Professorial Chair of Organic Chemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science. His pioneering work on transition metal-mediated processes includes the activation and functionalization of normally inert chemical bonds, has provided fundamental insight into catalytic reaction mechanisms, and has enabled the design and development of novel, sustainable and environmentally benign catalytic transformations of significant synthetic and energy-related applications.
His awards include the Kolthoff Prize; Israel Chemical Society (ICS) Prize; ACS Organometallic Chemistry Award; RSC Sir Geoffrey Wilkinson Award; Meitner-Humboldt Senior Award; The Israel Prize; ENI Protection of the Environment Prize; European Organometallic Chemistry Prize; ICS Gold Medal; Blaise Pascal Medal of the European Academy of Sciences, and many distinguished lectureship awards.
David is a Member of the US National Academy of Sciences, Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and the German National Academy of Sciences-Leopoldina.
