Professor Endre Süli FRS

Endre Süli is a mathematician whose work is concerned with the analysis of numerical algorithms for the approximate solution of partial differential equations and the mathematical analysis of nonlinear partial differential equations in continuum mechanics.

Born in Yugoslavia, he was educated at the University of Belgrade and did his graduate work as a British Council Scholar at the University of Reading and at St Catherine’s College, Oxford. He received his doctorate from the University of Belgrade in 1985.

Endre Süli is a Professor of Numerical Analysis at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Worcester College, Oxford.  He was elected a Foreign Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (2009), a Member of the European Academy of Sciences (2010), a Fellow of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (2016), a Member of the Academia Europaea (2020), and gave an invited address at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2006, Madrid).
