Facundo D. Batista obtained his BSc from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and his PhD from the International School of Advanced Studies in Trieste, Italy. He trained with Michael Neuberger as a European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) in Cambridge, UK. He then established his independent lab at the London Research Institute (ICRF) as a member of the Francis Crick Institute.
Dr Batista is a global leader in B cell and antibody biology whose work has reshaped our fundamental understanding of the humoral immune system, enabling breakthroughs in vaccine development and therapeutic antibody discovery.
Dr Batista is the first Scientific and Associate Director of The Ragon Institute of Mass General Brigham, MIT, and Harvard. He holds the Phillip T. and Susan M. Ragon Chair at the MIT Department of Biology and is faculty in the Harvard Department of Immunology. He is an elected Fellow or Member of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, the US National Academy of Medicine, EMBO, the American Academy of Microbiology, and the Latin American Academy of Sciences (ACAL). In recognition of his work, he has received several awards, including The Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award and the American Association of Immunologists (AAI)-Biolegend Herzenberg Award.
