Research summary

My award is Royal Society KC Wong Fellowship. New methods that enable the efficient and modular provision of chiral scaffolds are essential to medicinal chemistry, and, ultimately, to the health and well being of society. My current research will main foucs on developing and exploiting a range of catalytically generated organometallic intermediates derived from C-C bond activation. and based upon preliminary results, I will set the stage for the realisation of aspirational and transformative goals. Specifically, I will start with directed insertion of Rh-catalysts into strained C-C bonds, and then to directed C-C bond activation processes that do not rely on ring strain. The fulfilment of these goals will provide methods that are likely to have broad utility for organic synthesis.
