Professor Garnet Chan FRS

Garnet Kin-Lic Chan is the Bren Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Marcus Center for Theoretical Chemistry at Caltech. Prior to Caltech he held positions at Princeton University and at Cornell University. He received his undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Cambridge University and carried out postdoctoral research as a Junior Research Fellow of Christ’s College and a Miller Research Fellow at UC Berkeley.

Chan's research is focused on the computational simulation of complex systems in chemistry and physics. He is particularly interested in quantum many-body problems.

Chan is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and his work has been recognized by a number of awards.
