Dr Gavin Hesketh currently holds a Royal Society University Research Fellowship, based at University College London. His research is in the area of experimental particle physics, and he is a member of the ATLAS Collaboration on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN where he focuses on measurements of the recently discovered Higgs boson, and improving the understanding of the strong force at the highest energy particle collisions achieved in a laboratory.

He previously held a CERN Fellowship on the CMS experiment, and prior to that was a post-doctoral researcher with Northeastern University, Boston USA, working on the D0 experiment at the Tevatron. He obtained a PhD from the University of Manchester, also on the D0 experiment.
