Research summary

My current reasearch as Assistant Professor deals with the development of transition metal catalyzed effective functionalization of expanded porphyrins and construction of molecular assemblies based on expanded porphyrins. This research also includes application of such molecular assemblies as NLO materials which exhibit large two photon absorption (TPA) cross sections. Organic molecules with large TPA values have attracted considerable attention due to their potential applications including 3-D optical memory and fabrication, photodynamic therapy, and optical limiting. Selective and efficient functionalization of expanded porphyrins, that is the purpose of my research, would serve as a powerful tool for further development of this important class of materials.
