Professor Hiro Suga FRS

Dr Suga is one of the world-leading research scientists of peptide science and drug discovery. His invention of de novo aminoacylation catalyst and macrocyclic peptide discovery platform technology, referred to as flexizyme (flexible tRNA-acylation ribozyme) and RaPID (Radom nonstandard Peptides Integrated Discovery) systems, have revolutionized the notion of peptide drug discovery in not only academia but also industrial sectors. His research achievement covers from basic science of peptide chemistry to medical applications conducted in his own research group and various collaborations with scientists in more than 10 countries. His innovative research stands out from the rest of peptide technologies, giving high impact to pharma industry to pursue the development of novel peptide therapeutics. His achievement has stimulated the community of chemical biology and peptide science, pushing a rapid growth of the related fields.
