Research summary

Physical properties of polycrystalline materials have been investigated for a long time to achieve high-efficiency lost-cost solar cells. The solar conversion efficiency of the thin-film solar cells is significantly affected by boundaries of the grains. However, our understanding of their atomic structure and the electronic structure aren't complete. The goal of this project is to provide a computational approach to understand the physical properties of the extended defects such as stability and electronic structure in the context of light-to-electricity conversion in solar cells.
