Mary McAlinden is Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Greenwich.
From 2011-2014 Mary was seconded to the Higher Education Academy as Discipline Lead for Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research. In this role she led a national programme of activities which included continuous professional development events for lecturers and discipline specific training for lecturers and postgraduates new to teaching in Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research.
She was also Project Lead for the Higher Education Academy STEM project: Skills in Mathematics and Statistics in the Disciplines and Tackling Transition. She has organised and led discussion events designed to facilitate cross-sector dialogue in Mathematics and is a member of the HoDoMS committee. Mary is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, a member of the London Mathematical Society and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
