Stephanie Schorge moved to the UK in 1999 after obtaining a PhD in Neuroscience at Brown University, USA. She joined the Department of Pharmacology at UCL as a post-doctoral associate researching the biophysics of ion channels. In 2005 she moved to the UCL Institute of Neurology where her first fellowship, sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Petwerers, began exploring how changes in ion channels lead to human diseases. She became a Royal Society University Research Fellow in 2010, and is now seeking to harness gene therapy to manipulate ion channel expression in order to develop new treatments for neurological diseases.
