Professor Steve Rothberg

Biography

Steve Rothberg is a member of the Steering Group for the project Leading the way: Increasing diversity in the scientific workforce.

Steve Rothberg is Professor of Vibration Engineering and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He joined the academic staff at Loughborough in 1990 and his efforts in developing laser technology for vibration measurements have attracted awards from the National Physical Laboratory and the Society of Experimental Mechanics.

Since 2011, he has held the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise) with strategic responsibility for Loughborough’s academic engagements with business, public and voluntary organisations. He has previously been Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (2007-11) and Head of the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (2001-07).

Steve has also delivered diverse institutional projects including the first campus-wide staff survey, development of the University’s first ethical policy framework and he leads the institutional Athena SWAN team.
