Yvonne is Chief Executive of STEM Learning – an organisation working to achieve a world-leading Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education for all young people across the UK, so benefitting them, their communities and the UK economy. Working with educators and employers of all sectors and sizes, STEM Learning drives forward UK STEM education by providing high-impact, STEM-specific professional learning for teachers, role models via the STEM Ambassador programme, support for STEM Clubs, and other high-impact STEM activities.

A Chartered Chemical Engineer, Yvonne spent time in manufacturing before moving into management consultancy. Whilst working full time, she studied for an MBA and moved into the STEM sector to establish the Science and Engineering (now STEM) Ambassadors volunteering programme in 2002. She joined STEM Learning in 2010, and has significantly grown the organisation’s reach and impact to become the UK’s largest provider of STEM support.

Yvonne has a strong personal passion for engaging all young people (particularly girls and those from disadvantaged backgrounds) with STEM, so they can understand the opportunities, enjoyment and excitement that STEM-related careers can provide. She is Chair of Governors at Heworth Grange School in Gateshead and a Trustee of The 5% Club – an employer-led organisation promoting apprenticeships and other earn-and-learn routes. She has previously served as Co-Chair of the Institution of Engineering and Technology's Education and Skills Panel
