Event details

What do women want? What do men want? The question of what we find attractive has been asked worldwide for centuries. The importance of being attractive to the opposite sex has increased dramatically in recent times for both men and women. This event brings together experts in the field to discuss their theories of attraction through evolution, psychology and the commercial world of online dating.

Dr Anthony Little is a Royal Society University Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at the University of Stirling. His research revolves around evolutionary approaches to face perception and the extent of agreement on the attractiveness of different face traits within individuals of the same culture, between different human cultures, and even between humans and other species.

Jo Hemmings is a behavioural psychologist on Big Brother and Dating/Relationship Coach on BBC 1’s The Undercover Princes and ITV’s London Tonight Special: The Love Industry and regularly appears on Daybreak and This Morning.

Sujata Kundu is an Inorganic Materials Chemist at University College London with an interest in all aspects of the chemistry of everyday life.

Jobeda Ali is the founder of London Science and Geek Chic Socials.

Dr Anna Machin is an evolutionary anthropologist in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford. Her particular interest is in the neurosciences of human relationships.
