Café Scientifique with Professor Jonathan Oppenheim
The laws of thermodynamics govern much of the world around us, telling us that a hot cup of tea in a cold room will cool down rather than heat up for example. But what happens when we apply these laws to small-scale systems? How do the mathematical tools from quantum information theory help us to better understand these fundamental laws of physics, and why does it matter? Professor Jonathan Oppenheim explored the curious nature of quantum systems and discussed how the applications of this research can make real contributions to our lives.
Professor Jonathan Oppenheim is a Royal Society University Research Fellow based in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University College London.
