A panel discussion looking at the role of literature, science and policy in protecting the planet.

Overview

What role do literature, science and policy play in protecting the planet?

Fifty years since the death of conservationist Rachel Carson, we looked at her masterpiece Silent Spring, and asked "what have we learnt?"

Our panel of experts; author John Burnside FRSL, scientist Professor John Pickett CBE FRS and policy maker Kerry ten Kate dissected this important question and placed it in the context of the environmental challenges we face today.

This event was held in collaboration with the Royal Society of Literature.
