Overview

An evening celebrating the achievements of leading women scientists on International Women’s Day.

Suffrage Science celebrates the achievements of leading female researchers in the fields of science and engineering, while recalling the women’s suffrage movement.

Join Science communicator Kat Arney as we 'meet' the first two female Fellows of the Royal Society, Marjory Stephenson and Kathleen Lonsdale, in short presentations by Georgina Ferry and Jane Cope, and hear about women in research and higher education from Carol Dyhouse (The University of Sussex).

The handing over of the Suffrage heirloom jewellery to the next group of excellent female scientists will be followed by a discussion on women in science 70 years ago and today.

Refreshments will be available from 5.30pm and the awards ceremony will start at 6pm.

Supported by the Royal Society, the Medical Research Council and L’Oréal.

Free to attend. Please register.
