How do I bring a school or college group?

Teachers can book a session at the Summer Science exhibition via the group booking for schools process. These sessions are intended for students who would like to find out about research currently taking place in the UK and to meet those involved. You can take a look at this year's exhibits for a taste of what is in store.

This year there will be a change to the normal sessions available. We will be piloting two special days for sixth form students alongside our normal group booking for schools aimed at students aged 14 and above.

'Inspiring science' days

On: Monday, Tuesday and Friday

For: students aged 14-18

Aimed at teachers and students aged 14 and above, the Exhibition provides the opportunity to take a glimpse at the future of science and how it can solve real-world issues. Schools can also attend one of the schools talks taking place during their booked session time. Schools and colleges can book a group to attend a fixed 3 hour session throughout Monday or Tuesday, or on Friday morning.

'My future in science' days - FULLY BOOKED

On: Wednesday and Thursday

For: students aged 16-18 (A-level)

This is a new pilot for 2019 aimed at students studying STEM A-levels or equivalent, and their teachers. Those booked on these days will get the unique opportunity to take a full day to explore the Exhibition and take part in a number of new activities, allowing students to talk one-on-one with the researchers to find out more about the fields they are working in and how they got there. There will also be schools talks taking place throughout the day. Groups will need to be on site for 10am, and the programme of activities will run through to 3.30pm so students and staff will be expected to stay the whole day.

Booking a group

If you would like to visit the Exhibition for an Inspiring science day or a My future in science day, you will need to book to attend.

Each school or college can book a group of up to 28 students to visit the Summer Science Exhibition via the 'book now' links above. Each group will be automatically allocated two additional accompanying teacher places, which will need to be confirmed at the time of booking (making the maximum group size 30 people).

Tickets are charged at £2 each (max of £56 per group) but please note that this cost will be refunded in full as long as at least 50% of your booked group have attended the event – the fixed price is included as a deposit to secure your place. If you can no longer make the event, as long as you cancel up to 30 days prior to the event, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel after this point, your deposit may be retained.

If you have any queries about booking, please contact the Schools Engagement team.
