A report by a Working Group of the Royal Society's Education Committee, expressing deep concern that the scientific and technological needs of the UK will not be met unless there is a radical revision of post-16 education.

This report was prepared by a working group of the Royal Society's Education Committee under the chairmanship of Professor Leslie Crombie, F.R.S. This report considers strategies for improvement. Beyond GCSE is published as a statement of the Council of the Royal Society, to encourage informed debate amongst educationalists and policy makers for post-16 education. The Society's Council hopes that all in the education system will read and comment on the report and use its ideas as a basis to develop their thoughts and actions further.
