Consultation response: Commons Science and Technology Committee inquiry into genomics and genome-editing

The Royal Society has written to the Commons Science and Technology Committee in response to their inquiry into genomics and genome editing. 

The response highlights the value and wide ranging applications of genetic technologies, outlines the need for a regulatory system that is proportionate, adaptable and future-proof, and the underlines the importance of public confidence in science and technology. All these factors are considered within the context of the UK’s Industrial Strategy, to help promote an environment that fosters innovative and responsible development and application of these technologies.
