Anniversary Day 2011
Wednesday 30 November 2011 marks the 351st anniversary of the Royal Society’s founding.

At the Anniversary Day meeting the President of the Royal Society, Sir Paul Nurse, will make his first Anniversary Address, a keynote speech which addresses important issues in the world of science.

On this day Professor Martyn Poliakoff CBE FRS takes up the post of Foreign Secretary and Vice-President of the Royal Society. He replaces Professor Lorna Casselton FRS who has served for five years. In total there are ten new members of the Council of the Royal Society who take up office today.
Winners of the Society’s medals, awards and prizes are celebrated at a ceremony on Anniversary Day. The call for nominations for next year’s medallists opens today.
