Anniversary Day 2013

Saturday 30 November 2013 marks the 353rd anniversary of the Royal Society's founding.

At the Anniversary Day meeting on Friday 29 November the President of the Royal Society, Sir Paul Nurse, made his third Anniversary Address, a keynote speech which addresses important issues in the world of science.

On this day Sir John Skehel FRS takes up the post of Biological Secretary. He replaces Dame Jean Thomas DBE FRS. Several new members of the Council of the Royal Society take up office today.

Winners of the Society’s medals, awards and prizes are celebrated at a ceremony on Anniversary Day. The call for nominations for next year’s medallists opens today.

The annual Trustees’ Report and Financial Statements are also published today.
