UKHRC statement on violent repression of peaceful protests in Iran

The Society is a member of the UK Academies Human Rights Committee (UKHRC), an alliance of the seven national academies of the UK that acts in support of academic freedom throughout the world and defends the fundamental rights of scholars under threat. The UKHRC statement (PDF) condemns the violent suppression of peaceful protests in Iran and calls on the Iranian authorities to cease the unnecessary use of force and to uphold the human rights of access to education, science and research.
