Grant giving is the primary means by which the Society supports outstanding science and scientists, providing fellowships and grants to researchers in the UK and internationally.
Royal Society funding programmes provide freedom, flexibility and support to scientists pursuing both discovery-led and applied research, from early career researchers through to senior professors.
Through our schemes, we facilitate international collaborations, attract and retain scientific talent and invest in industry and innovation. We also help to develop future research leaders through a wide range of training, mentoring and networking opportunities offered as part of our research fellowships.
Broadening access to academia to talented individuals and helping them to achieve their full potential is an essential part of supporting scientific excellence. We have developed and supported initiatives and programmes designed to address some of the many challenges faced by groups underrepresented within UK STEM, to enable all researchers to tackle the most pressing scientific questions.
