The value of applying for EU research funding: case studies
The UK is participating in Horizon Europe as an associated country with access to the European Research Council (ERC), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), grants from the European Innovation Council and other key schemes. This entitles UK and UK-based participants to apply for funding and continue to form and lead consortia with international partners on equivalent terms to EU-based participants, even though the UK has now left the EU.
The case studies on the right demonstrate the value of applying for EU research funding from the perspective of researchers who have previously been awarded grants from the ERC and MSCA. The funding provides grant holders with the independence and freedom to undertake ground-breaking discovery science, build teams of early career researchers, PhDs and technicians, and make huge strides both personally and professionally.
Further information on access to EU funding including Q&As is available on the Society’s Brexit and UK science pages.
