Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals

There has been recent public concern over the potential adverse effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals(EDCs), substances which may interfere with normal function of the endocrine (hormone) system of humans and animals.

This report considers the scientific evidence available, identifies areas in which further research is needed and advises on how such concerns may best be addressed by policy makers.

Many questions about EDCs remain unanswered. If risks are to be properly understood, continued research is essential. Policy makers must appreciate that the concerns of the public already have some foundation.
