The Society supports the Human Tissue Bills aim of increasing public confidence over the collection and use of human tissues and organs, but there are a number of aspects of the Bill that threaten existing and future scientific and medical research. These include: existing collections of stored tissues, the range of work covered by the Bill and how this is defined; tissue samples routinely taken during clinical procedures; and the proposed Codes of Practice.
